Ballot Numbering

Ballot Numbering

I suggest to the authorities, with time, review the securities of the electoral ballots, the methods of validation and traceability.

We are in Ecuador at the gates of a new election on Sunday, August 20, 2023, managed by the National Electoral Council.

As a citizen forced to vote, I want the CNE not to tease us again this time and to correct the mistake made in the last elections where all the ballots had the same barcode design without numbers and the same serial number. This time a 'QR' code is seen on the ballots, which I hope will not be repeated in all of them.

Beyond the fact that they staged the recount show with the permission of the IGM (Military Geographic Institute) in 2017, unfolded ballots were seen that were part of the recount show, and the famous "special" paper that looked like a sheet against the light A4 any. Without being an expert in electoral security, I believe that it is almost unlikely that certain types of printed paper, not only the electoral ballot, but, for example, lottery tickets or 'guachitos' circulate without proper traceability, even dollar bills have a different serial number. I hope that they review the securities of electoral ballots, the validation and traceability methods, otherwise we could have printed papers with uncontrolled numbering. (EITHER)
